ABOUT ME

I am a licensed psychologist with a private practice based in Upper Montclair, New Jersey.  I work with Preteens, Adolescents and Young Adults in psychotherapy and psychoeducational assessment.  My practice is based on Cognitive Behavioral Therapeutic (CBT) methodology with an eclectic problem solving focus.  I work individually, in groups, and consult with families to improve the functioning of my clients.

I have a long and varied work history with over 25 years in the mental health field, beginning with several years as Senior Counselor at Pahl house in Troy, NY working with adolescents with substance abuse and emotional issues.  I spent several years as a school counselor at Long Island Lutheran Middle & High School.  As a consultant working with the NYC Board of Education, I taught behavior management strategies to paraprofessionals working in the NYC school system.  My training has also allowed me to teach at the college level, as an Adjunct Lecturer at York College and Queens College in New York.  I have also been a guest lecturer for several classes at Montclair State University here in New Jersey.  For the past 15 years I have been working as a School Psychologist and since 2005 I have been working at Montclair High School in Montclair, NJ doing individual and group therapy, psychoeducational assessment, crisis intervention, and academic collaboration and consultation.

I received my BA in Psychology from Hampden-Sydney College in Virginia followed by a MEd in Counselor Education from the University of Virginia, focusing on Humanistic Therapeutic techniques.  I also earned a Professional Certificate in School Psychology from Queens College followed by a MA in Philosophy from the Graduate Center of the City University of New York. Finally, I earned a PhD in Educational Psychology with a specialization in School Psychology also from the Graduate Center of the City University of New York.  My Doctoral program focused on Cognitive Behavioral theories and techniques.  Since completing my PhD I have also engaged in several hundred hours of continuing education focused on clinical work with adolescents and young adults.

I am a professional member in good standing of the American Psychological Association, the New Jersey Psychological Association, the Association for Behavioral and Cognitive Therapies, the National Association of School Psychologists, and the New Jersey Association of School Psychologists.  I am also a Nationally Certified School Psychologist (NCSP).
